First Tuesday in Advent - Read Luke 21:10-19
As we, like watchful guards, await the dawn of Christmas and the advent of the Kingdom, we do so with confident hope. We recall the words of Jesus, that his followers would be misunderstood and mistreated, but by their patient endurance would enter God’s reign. May we be granted the Advent wisdom that by refusing to return injury for injury, and by being patient in our peacemaking, the Kingdom comes among us. As we avoid answering anger with anger, or evil with evil, and wait in patience, we become midwives for Emmanuel, God-among-us.
