Letter to Catechism Parents – 15 January 2021

Attention all Parents

We wish you a Happy New Year, blessed with peace, health and courage for what may lie ahead.

We feel that it is imperative that we resume catechism classes for our children who wish to be confirmed.

All children in Grades 8, 9 and 10 are invited to attend classes in the church hall on the evenings of Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

We aim to begin classes on Tuesday 2ND March at 6.45pm, with classes finishing at 8pm. We need the children there at 6.30 for registration so that class can begin promptly. (The early start is to allow for curfew, so children must be collected promptly at 8pm.)

Grades 8 and 9 are compulsory preparation years, and Grade 10 is the final year during which the children will be confirmed.

Depending on group numbers, children will attend either every week, or every 2nd week, during state school term times. (If large groups are to be split and attended only every second week, classes would be extended to 1½ hours to ensure the syllabus is covered; curfew permitting.)

Once we know exactly how many children will attend, we will be able to tell you on what evening your child will be required to attend.

All COVID-19 protocols will be observed. i.e. A register will be taken at each class, temperatures will be taken and recorded, all working areas and surfaces will be sanitised, and hand sanitiser will be given to the children. Only children and teachers will be allowed past the registration point, to reduce possible infection. Windows and doors of the hall will be open allowing for the best possible ventilation, and children will be seated at least 1.5 meters apart.
